NST

The Satellite Distribution System for Information Relating to Air Navigation (SADIS) second generation (SADIS2G) data distribution is implemented as a hybrid system of interconnected devices and protocols but because of adherence to the standard WMO socket protocol and formatting specifications at the sources in Exeter and Heathrow for the uplink communication, recovery of the data embedded in the Frame Relay packets used on the space segment can be straight-forward and reliable at the reception sites.

At the remote sites the NetSys SADIS Transcoder (NST) is used to recover the SADIS2G data from the feed at the output of the satellite modem and present it inside UDP packets to the visualization workstation software.

The NST is intended as a crucial part of the NetSys low-cost, custom-made solution focused on the needs of the States included in the United Nations list of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) that have existing SADIS1G reception equipment.

An NST unit can be installed in a PCI slot in the server or as a separate enclosure with its own power supply.
